BERKDEN

Trina is very patient, gentle, and a terrific mother.  She is intelligent and independent. When she was 10 weeks old, she taught us to open the door for her by ringing a bell.  Most people spend a long time training a dog to do this, not Trina, she taught herself.  She loves the water and retrieving.  She prefers it outside, especially when there is snow.  She is a light golden and has an easy care coat.

Gemma is a puppy from Trina's constellation litter.  Her registered name is "Corona Borealis" of which Gemma is the brightest star in the constellation.  She is a very playful girl, who really just loves life.  She spends most of her days playing with her toys, or being pet and fussed over by her pet family.  She is very obedient, and as a result was easy to train (even though she can be stubborn). Gemma has recently retired from the breeding program and her daughter Maple and granddaughter Frankie are taking over for her.

SCARLET

Jayda is a tender sole who adores people. She has always been what I would describe as a “people dog”. When she was in the breeding program, she was a fantastic mother who was very attentive to her puppies needs.   Jayda retired in 2012 and currently lives in Tobermory Ontario with the Pierce family.  She has become an important member of their family, and spends most of her days hiking through the bush and swimming in the lake.  Retirement suits her, as she always has a grin on her face when I visit her at her new home.  When the opportunity presented itself for her to retire in this location, I could not deny her what most of us wish for ourselves.  Although she is greatly missed at the kennel, I know she is loved and cared for in her new home.  I do believe it is where she was meant to be, and I would like to thank the Pierce family for welcoming her into their home.

Jayda has joined Berkley and Amber with her own journey across the rainbow bridge.  I hope she is enjoying her days watching squirrels and laying in the sun.  RIP Jayda, you were a very sweet girl and your kind soul will be sadly missed!

Scarlet is Trina's daughter from the "Clue" themed litter.  She is a gentle dog with a desire to please. She lives with my mom and was a St. John's service dog. Her volunteer work allowed her to visit residents in the local retirement homes.  Scarlet has now retired from the breeding program and spends her days playing with her daughter Joy.

SLOANE

Berkley is a gentle boy with desire to please.  He is a true comedian of the group.  If he knows that he is being laughed at, he will continue with his antics to amuse you.  He is very well socialized, and as a result he is a friend to everyone he meets.  He enjoyed his time in the show ring, as he loves to be the center of attention.  He is now retired from the show circuit, however, I may choose to re-enter him in the future so he can continue to shine.  He is very devoted to me, and is my constant shadow.  From my perspective, it is nice that someone admires you that much.

Berkley was given to me in 2002 as a gift from one of the clients at the veterinary clinic where I work.  It was my intention to make him a house pet that I could spoil.  My husband had previously received a German Shepherd, and now I had a dog of my own.  While Berk was maturing, he was showing promise that he would be more than your average golden, and I decided to see just how far he could go in the show ring.  When Berk was around 1 year of age, he entered the show ring for the first time; he took second place.  He beat several dogs that were much older and more mature, so I knew that he would someday earn his title.  He was able to accomplish this before his second birthday.  Since that time, Berk has gone on to sire several litters.

Update: It has taken me a long time to write this on the website, as it somehow makes it final... Berkley passed away peacefully in February of 2017.  He was the first golden that I owned, and he took a little piece of me with him when he left.   I will never forget you Berk and the pawprints you left on my heart.

Amber is a very loyal, independent female.  She had her first litter in the spring of 2006, and we were pleased at how she handled motherhood.   Her personality complements Berkley's quite well, and we have received feed-back from puppy owners that they are pleased with her offspring.  She received her name due to the fact that it means "shades of gold", but more importantly, because she is Berk's girl.

(I AM BERK'S)

Amber made her trip across the rainbow bridge in May of 2018.  It is never easy to lose a dog or a friend.  It doesn't matter how many times you go through the experience of saying goodbye, it still breaks your heart every time.  Rest in peace my sweet girl, I think of you often!

Sloane is Gemma's daughter from the "trees" litter. This litter was a tribute to my mentor and friend Cheryl O'Brien, owner of Willowcrest Kennels. Sloane is a very smart, lovable girl that lives with her pet mom in Ayr Ontario.  She entered the show ring during Covid and gained her ABI championship very quickly.  While competing in the ABI shows, she won (my first) "Best In Show".  When the CKC show started again (they where not running during Covid) she completed her CKC title and also won a "Best In Specialty Show".  To say I am proud of this dog is an understatement.  She is now retired from my breeding program and can focus her attention on her swimming (which she loves to do) and her obedience training.
